Tiger Woods, Ray Drew, Super Bowl 2011 and Friday’s Late Sports News – Bleacher Report

If everybody is working for the weekend, then consider this another sign of a job well done. So slip into your sweater, Mr. Rogers, and let me help prepare you for another wild weekend of sports.

The NFL is considerate enough to not leave us cold turkey after the Super Bowl. They give us the one-week buffer, before the big game, of experiencing a weekend without football.

Well, there is the Pro Bowl, but that’s almost worse—a taste of honey is worse than none at all. There will be plenty of Super Bowl chatter filling the weekend though, and we’ll certainly touch on that here.

In other news, Tiger Woods and John Daly are making preparations to have a mind-blowing weekend. That’s not all that newsworthy, except for the fact they are doing that on the golf course by playing golf.

The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines is in progress, and as I type, John Daly is in second place and two back of the leader, Chris Kirk. Tiger Woods is three back in fourth place.

Another thing worth keeping tabs on this weekend is the decisions of the nation’s top high school recruits. National signing day is next Wednesday, and some recruits are already making their future homes official.

Ray Drew, a five-star recruit, got a jump on everyone on Friday and announced he would be attending the University of Georgia. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Drew is going to keep his defensive end talents in state.
