Poor Padma. You can’t help but feel that what was simply a bid to become a mother against all odds (the “Top Chef” host has endometriosis) in an unconventional way has started to completely fall apart.
Padma Lakshmi, 40, gave birth to Krishna Lakshmi last year on February 20. Though it seemed that the baby’s father was meant to be kept secret, soon enough it came out that the baby’s father was none other than Adam Dell, 41, brother to the CEO and mega-millionaire of Austin-based Dell Computers, Michael Dell.
Padma and Dell, who once had an on-again off-again relationship but have not been romantically linked since the pregnancy, had originally had an out-of-court agreement that Dell could have visitation nine days per month. The agreement was supposed to be valid until the child’s first birthday, which is quickly approaching, and have recently been in negotiations for a new custody arrangement to go into effect. Apparently, however, negotiations have been anything but pleasant, falling apart in recent weeks and causing Dell to file papers in New York City Tuesday seeking full custody of the baby.
Padma’s reaction? She feels “bullied” by Dell, and feels that this is his way of trying to force a relationship, once which she has no interest in.
What on Earth would motivate Dell to seek full custody, particular after not paying child support for the past eleven months? Does he seriously think that a judge will remove a child from her mother without any wrongdoing involved?
Hang in there, Padma!
