MONTGOMERY — Township schools scored high marks on three separate rankings that compare administrative and teaching costs to the other schools in New Jersey and across the country.
The state recently released its annual report card where Montgomery was rated the lowest spending district in Somerset County. Montgomery spends $11,628 per pupil while the state average is 13,833.
The schools also moved up to the number 10 spot on NJ Monthly’s Top Schools, also the highest number in the region.
In addition, a yearlong independent study on the efficiency and productivity of the nation’s public schools lands Montgomery with high marks.
These studies, as well as the annual report card, show just how efficient Montgomery really is, said Superintendent Earl Kim. “We keep our spending per pupil low and our results are extremely high.
The Center for American Progress study was intended to “identify districts thatgenerate higher-than-average achievement per dollar spent and gave Montgomeryschools a 94 percent rating on its 100-point scale, which compares quality of education return per dollar spent.
David Pettit, Board of Education president said, “As a board member, parent and taxpayer, I am extremely appreciative of our administration, faculty and staff for all they do to consistently deliver such a high-value educational system for ourcommunity.Access to the NJ school report card and the Center for American Progress study site, can be found at:http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc10/menu/35-3320.htmlhttp://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/01/educational_productivity/report.html.
