BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A walker is in the surrounded by of recuperating during Eastern Maine Medical Center after starting blank during Baxter State Park over the weekend.
Twenty-one year aged Chris Dubois of Madawaska was hiking with the little friends upon the towering this past Saturday. They were entrance down the Helon Taylor Trail when the clever breeze knocked Dubois off the trail. Cut off from his group, he was left stuck upon Katahdin overnight.
In which time, frostbite set in which caused his feet to freeze. Rescue crews in the future found Dubois upon Sunday as well as he was airlifted off of Katahdin by the Maine Army National Guard.
“I meant there have been times… ya know you’re similar to roughly in the automobile collision or something… you’re kind of similar to ‘Oh, we coulda died there,’ ” Dubois said, “but this was the single of those situations where it was only similar to ‘I will die…right here.’ So sitting here now… with friends all around…it feels really nice.”
Since being hospitalized, Dubois’ frostbite has healed considerably. There is confidence which he will have the full recovery.
