Katy ISD set for Shootout – Houston Chronicle

The I-10 Shootout girls soccer tournament is back in Katy, and with a twist this season. The field has expanded to 48 teams, and the brackets have grown from four to six, one for each Katy ISD school.

Last season, Cinco Ranch and Katy won bracket championships. Mayde Creek was the only Katy winner two years ago.

ABOUT THE GAME

• What: I-10 Shootout

• When: Thursday, Jan. 20 through Saturday, Jan. 22

• Where: The tournament takes place at all six Katy ISD high schools (Morton Ranch, Katy, Mayde Creek, Seven Lakes, Cinco Ranch and Katy Taylor) and Rhodes Stadium.

• What’s at stake: Championships in each of the six eight-team brackets, which play out at the six different Katy ISD high school campuses. All championship games are Saturday at Rhodes, starting at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

• Teams: At Morton Ranch: Foster, Summer Creek, Pearland, Bryan, Cypress Lakes, Westside, Morton Ranch and Aldine; at Katy: Pope John XXIII, Cy Ranch, La Porte, Elsik, Katy, Brazoswood, Kingwood Park and Gregory Portland; at Mayde Creek: Friendswood, College Park, Clear Creek, Langham Creek, Klein Collins, Bellaire, Mayde Creek and Spring; at Seven Lakes: The Woodlands, San Antonio Johnson, Austin Westlake, Seven Lakes, Cy Creek, Klein Oak, Clear Lake and McKinney Boyd; at Cinco Ranch: Kingwood, Deer Park, Klein, Clear Brook, Cinco Ranch, San Antonio Churchill, Cy Woods and Belton; and at Katy Taylor: Memorial, Cy-Fair, Lamar, St. Agnes, Atascocita, Clear Springs, Katy Taylor and Georgetown.
