Insight Bowl 2010: Missouri Tigers to play the Iowa Hawkeyes in Tempe.

The No. 12 Missouri Tigers will head to Tempe, AZ, to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Insight Bowl.

The Tigers (10-2, 6-2 Big 12) won their last three games to close out the regular season, including against then-No. 24 Kansas State on Nov.13. The Tigers big win came on Oct. 23 against then-No. 1 Oklahoma, beating the Sooners 36-27.

The Hawkeyes (7-5, 4-4 Big Ten) dropped their last three games of the regular season, including against Ohio State on Nov. 20. The losses dropped the Hawkeyes from the BCS Top 25 rankings.

Blaine Gabbert leads the Tigers, as Ricky Stanzi leads the Hawkeyes.

The Tigers and Hawkeyes haven’t met since 1910, a 5-0 win by the Tigers (no, that’s not a baseball score).

“We’re very pleased to accept the invitation to play in the 2010 Insight Bowl,” Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel said in a statement. “This is going to be a great reward for our team, and for our fans. Iowa is a very talented team that will present a lot of challenges, so we look forward to working hard over the next few weeks to prepare for what should be a great game and a great trip for our program.”

This is the sixth consecutive season Missouri has gone to a bowl game.
