Chabad of Westborough will hold a menorah lighting at 12:15 p.m. Sunday at the downtown Westboro rotary. Children from local Hebrew schools, as well as other local children, can compete in a creative menorah-making contest. The menorahs will be displayed and judged at the rotary Sunday. Dreidels and holiday refreshments, including gelt (chocolate coins) and doughnuts, will be available. Selectmen and other dignitaries will participate in the festivities. The event is free and open to all members of the community.

A 9-foot menorah will be on display at the Westboro rotary and on Shrewsbury Common through the Hanukkah holiday, which began at sundown yesterday and continues through Dec. 9.

Another Hanukkah celebration will be held at Solomon Pond Mall on the Marlboro-Berlin line at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The program will include filling and glazing a jelly doughnut, designing your own Hanukkah bracelet, live music and lots of hot latkes (potato pancakes), doughnuts, chocolate gelt and dreidels.
